Welcome to the 2022 COBRA Master Class! We are so excited to help all of you learn how to lead deep-sea research expeditions, and to learn from you what the future of deep-sea research needs! In this first Kickoff week, we are going to take things slow and make sure everyone is comfortable with the tools we will be using during this virtual class.

Introduction to the COBRA AccelNet
Log in to the 2022 COBRA Master Class Slack Channel #master-class-fellows-2022, and:
Record your own introduction in the channel, using the video camera icon at the bottom of the “send a message…” entry field. Tell us your name, where you are, what your position is, and something that you are really hoping to get out of the class.

Create a PubPub Account at https://www.pubpub.org/ and send a message to Katy Croff Bell on Slack once you’ve made it so she can add you to the COBRA PubPub community.
Complete this pre-class survey to help us assess your knowledge and feelings about leading deep-sea expeditions. This survey should take less than 5 minutes to complete and is anonymous. We will ask the same questions at the end of the Master Class to help us understand how your feelings and knowledge have shifted.
Complete this survey BY MARCH 4 to help us identify the Master Class weekly topics you are most excited to learn about, and those that you think will challenge you the most. Based on your feedback, we will assign two topics to you. In those weeks, we will ask you to get involved with the synchronous session to capture the most important information for the resulting “how to” manuals that will be assembled at the end of the Master Class.
